This One I've Never Told A Living Soul

So I travelled to Cape Town for a conference. And Swēt, the city was brand new to me, nobody from home, nobody who knew my people, and that was the whole sweetness of it. I wanted to explore it.

After our first day of events, I went to a bar not far from the hotel, just to soak in the place. And that's where I saw him. Let me call him D. Big man, clean dreads, the confident type that doesn't have to shout to be heard.

He came over, asked what I was drinking, and when he asked my name I gave him one that wasn't mine, just to see how it would feel. Felt amazing honestly. And right there I decided, for this whole trip, I was going to be a completely new person. This woman with my face and none of my rules.

But I didn't rush o. A few nights we just talked, same bar, later and later each time. And Swēt, my mind was running way ahead of me, imagining all the things this new me could get up to. But the teasing was just too sweet to rush.

I'd let my knee rest against his under the bar then move it like it was an accident. One night I finished my drink, told him I was heading up, and squeezed his shoulder slow as I passed, just to leave him sitting there wanting.

He texted before I even reached my room, asking if he could come up. I told him I was already in bed. And honestly, Swēt, denying this fine man was almost sweeter than the teasing itself. I knew exactly what I was doing.

So on the last night, when he asked if I was really leaving the next day, and I said yes, this cocky man just looked at me and said, then stop teasing me so much. And me, I just asked if his view upstairs was better than mine. Same hotel, mind you, we both knew what I was actually asking. He smiled and said come and see.
