This is Swēt’s current Privacy Policy, and it is under review by our lawyers.
Swēt is operated from Lagos, Nigeria, at swetco.com.
Who this applies to
Swēt is strictly for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we delete their account and data immediately. See our Terms for the full eligibility rules.
What we collect
Account data: your email address and a pen name you choose. We do not require your real name to read or to submit.
Confession and post submissions: the text you submit, the tags you select, and metadata such as the time and your IP address (see retention below).
Order data: items, delivery or pickup choice, delivery address, phone number, and email, so we can fulfil and contact you about your order.
Technical data: IP address, device and browser type, and usage events, collected automatically for security, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
Payment data is handled by our payment partner, Bachs. We do not store your card or bank numbers ourselves.
We do not collect sexual-preference profiles, and we do not ask for data we do not need.
Why we collect it
To run the service you asked for: accounts, reading, submissions, orders. To keep the platform safe and lawful: moderation, fraud and abuse prevention, and the traffic-data retention the Cybercrimes Act requires. To contact you about your orders and, only with your consent, about anything else.
How long we keep it
Traffic and IP logs, meaning your IP address, the page, and the time, are kept for two years, as required by the Nigerian Cybercrimes Act 2015, then deleted automatically. We run a daily purge for anything past that window. This record is never shown publicly.
Account data is kept while your account is active, and deleted on request, subject to the retention above.
Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires, then deleted.
Rejected submissions and their metadata are kept only as long as needed for safety and moderation records, then deleted.
Who we share it with
We share the minimum necessary with our hosting provider, Vercel, our database provider, Neon, our email provider, Mailtrap, our analytics provider, Adtivity, our payment partner, Bachs, and delivery partners for orders only. Each is bound to protect your data. We also disclose data when required by a valid legal request from Nigerian authorities.
We never sell your data. We never share it for advertising.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent, at any time. Email houseofswet@gmail.com. We respond within the timeframe the NDPA requires. Deletion is honoured except for data we are legally required to retain (see “How long we keep it” above).
Anonymity, stated honestly
You are anonymous to other readers and creators, they see only your pen name. You are not anonymous to us or to the law. We keep the records described above and will disclose them under valid legal process. We will never tell you that your activity is untraceable, because that would be false.
Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit, access controls, and logging. If a breach ever affects your data, we will notify you and the regulator as the NDPA requires.
Cookies and local storage
We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember the age gate, and keep your cart. We also use one analytics tool, Adtivity, to count page views and see which parts of the site get used. It stores a random id in your browser so a return visit is not counted twice. That id is not linked to your account, your email, or anything you have written or bought, and nothing you type is ever sent to it. We do not use advertising trackers.
International users
Swēt is operated from Nigeria. If you access it from elsewhere, your data is processed in Nigeria and wherever our hosting and database providers, Vercel and Neon, run their servers.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here and, where appropriate, emailed to you.
