How it works
1Share your tea. It is free.Something you lived, or something you imagined (tick the fictional tag). Signed in, it runs under your pen name; nobody ever sees who you are.
2It gets picked, and goes liveOur editors read every piece. If it lands, we tidy it, keep you anonymous, and pour it into the feed. You get a ping when it is picked and when it is live.
3Readers follow youEvery piece links to your page. Readers follow you there and hear when you pour something new.
4Turn a piece into a seriesOn the You page, open a piece under Your tea and press Make this a series. Then send part two, three, and on. Each one joins the series on its own once it is live.
5Set a price on the later partsFrom part two on, set a price from ₦100 to ₦5,000. Part one is always free: it is how a reader gets hooked. You can also set a time each part pours, with a countdown; readers can spend Sugar to read early.
6Or sell a SeasonGroup a run of written parts into a Season: one price (₦100 to ₦10,000) for all of them, paid once. Readers get every part as it pours, and anyone who bought a part already pays the difference.
7Take tipsAnything you tell under your pen name can be tipped at the end, paid or free.
8Keep most of itSwēt takes 10% when the reader came through your own link, 20% when Swēt brought them, and 5% of tips. Your first month, counted from your first live piece, is 5% on everything. Payment fees come out of our share, never yours.
9Watch it land on the You pageYour earnings, piece by piece, with which rate applied.
10Get paid on FridaysPaid out every Friday to your bank or mobile money in your own currency: NGN, GHS, KES, UGX, TZS, GBP, EUR, USD, CAD. Add where you want to be paid once (in Nigeria we show you the name on the account before saving it). What you earn clears after 7 days, then goes out every Friday from ₦2,000, converted at that day's rate. Can't wait? Withdraw now and see the exact amount first. Transfer fees are on us.
