I texted the number that night. We vibed hard on WhatsApp for weeks. Only problem was he travelled a lot for work, London, Nairobi, Abuja, always mid-flight when the chemistry hit hardest. We couldn't meet. So the teasing started. Pictures, videos, voice notes at 1am, both of us knowing what was coming whenever he finally landed.
He was in Enugu for his aunty's burial when I sent one video too many.
He replied later with "I'm coming to lagos because of you, but will only be there for a few hours, get ready."
I named a hotel near Ikeja airport. He landed at seven, was at the hotel when I got there, still in the black polo he wore to the church service. No small talk oh. From the door Swēt, this man saw me, the hug was intense from there he lifted me and from there I knew I was in for it.
